“Carry On”
Air travel–themed work with (synthetic) environmental sounds and objects in my temporary flat near the Auckland University of Technology (AUT). Rhythm: knife on counter, toaster springs, refrigerator door slam. Melody—air across water bottles. Inspiration: Observing Dr. Clinton Watkins’s AUT class CTEC700 Space, Image and Sound. His students will complete long-term projects. This was a short-term project to occupy me one idle afternoon and evening in an unfamiliar city.
Welcome to Ralston, Vermont’s “Green Island” City
This world-building project included several pieces and multiple platforms including a historical museum exhibition, a short story published in Seven Days media, and a course project that invites undergraduate students to become virtual citizens of this virtual city and propose amendments to the municipality.
In addition to being featured in a Seven Days article, Vermont Public producer Jane Lindholm invited Erik Esckilsen to discuss the project on “Vermont Edition.”
